WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman G. K. Butterfield issued the following statement on the passing of former North Carolina state House Representative and pastor, Rev. Dr. Sidney Locks, Jr.

“Rev. Dr. Sidney Locks, Jr. was my friend and confidant. A true servant leader who cared deeply about the political and spiritual welfare of his community, he will always be remembered as a minister in every regard who practiced what he preached. He served nearly eight years in the North Carolina state House of Representatives and decades as a pastor, however; he has left a legacy and a strong example that has permeated his community, the state of North Carolina and generations to come.

“His impact on eastern North Carolina and the many lives he touched will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. I extend my sincerest condolences to his wife Mrs. Carol Locks and his family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.”
