Butterfield Statement on the Nomination of Erik A. Hooks to serve as Deputy Administrator for FEMA
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01), released the following statement on President Biden’s nomination of North Carolina-native and current Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Erik A. Hooks, to serve as the Deputy Administrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA):
“I commend President Biden for his nomination of Erik Hooks to serve as Deputy Administrator for FEMA. Secretary Hooks is the right man for the job. On day one, he will bring over 30 years of public safety experience to FEMA. Secretary Hooks’ experience and leadership at FEMA is what our country needs in times of crises, especially as a changing climate produces more severe and frequent natural disasters. I have no doubt Secretary Hooks will serve the American people with distinction while at FEMA, just as he has done for the past 30 years in North Carolina.
“I thank President Biden for his nomination of Secretary Hooks and encourage the United States Senate to confirm him expeditiously.”
