Butterfield Mourns Passing of Goldsboro Mayor Lawrence Cobin “Chuck” Allen
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) issued the following statement on the passing of former Goldsboro Mayor and friend, Lawrence Cobin “Chuck” Allen:
“I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mayor Chuck Allen. Mayor Allen was a good friend. We not only mourn the loss of this true public servant, but also honor and celebrate his many contributions to the City of Goldsboro and the state of North Carolina,” said Congressman Butterfield. “Chuck dedicated 20 years of public service to the city of Goldsboro and its people. He was a hardworking public servant who served to the best of his ability and was committed to bettering his community. The love he had for Goldsboro will forever be unmatched.
“Mayor Allen will be remembered for recognizing the well-being of Goldsboro’s citizens, improving the city’s economic standing, and promoting entrepreneurship throughout North Carolina. His fire for change and passion for the city he served will be a lasting part of his legacy.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Lori Pfrang Allen, children, and all those who loved him. I pray that God will comfort the Allen family and his many friends during this difficult time.”
