“As we remember a historic day of patriotism and heroism; it is with awe and honor that we remember the sacrifice of the soldiers in Normandy, France 75 years ago. As a veteran of the United States Army and the son of a World War I veteran, today is an especially proud day. I am proud to be a Representative from the state of North Carolina which had soldiers on the ground June 6, 1944 in Normandy. I am proud of all our courageous American soldiers who along with Allied troops; in the face of tyranny, fought with dedication and conviction for liberty and democracy. We are forever grateful to the D-Day soldiers, and we continue our gratitude for the men and women who continue the fight.”
