Butterfield Honored as a “Champion of Science” by The Science Coalition

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) issued the following statement on being honored as one of the 2019 Champions of Science by The Science Coalition (TSC); nominated by North Carolina State University. Honorees in the House and Senate were recognized for their dedication and support of federal investment in fundamental scientific research.

“Scientific advances contribute to revolutionary innovation, increases in American competitiveness and stimulation of our economy. Robust federal investment is essential to sustaining the scientific research that is needed to save lives, improve quality of life and create opportunities and access that would otherwise be unreachable without the aid of science and technology. I am proud to join the 11 Members of Congress who were honored for their strong advocacy on this critical issue. I am grateful to North Carolina State University for the nomination and to TSC for continuing its vital work in science research which has contributed so much to society. I look forward to continued support of federal funding for scientific research, keeping the United States of America at the global forefront of life-changing scientific advances.”
