Butterfield Congratulates Reginald Speight and Congressman Bob Etheridge on USDA Appointments
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) today released the following statement after President Joe Biden appointed Reginald Speight to serve as the North Carolina State Director for Rural Development at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Bob Etheridge to serve as the USDA’s State Executive Director for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) in North Carolina:
“I am pleased to congratulate Reginald Speight on his appointment to serve as the USDA’s State Director of Rural Development,” said Congressman G. K. Butterfield. “For nearly a decade, Reginald Speight was a very valuable and trusted part of my congressional team. He played a key role in ensuring the interests of the residents of the First Congressional District were best served at home and in Washington, DC. The people of the First Congressional District are indebted to Reginald for his commitment to the values and aspirations of our communities. I am very proud of Reginald and offer to him my best wishes in this new opportunity to serve the State of North Carolina.
“I am also excited to congratulate Congressman Bob Etheridge on his appointment to serve as the USDA’s State Executive Director of the Farm Service Agency in North Carolina. Congressman Etheridge is a trusted leader with a tremendous amount of agricultural policy experience not only as a former member of Congress and Executive Director of NC FSA, but also as a life-long farmer himself. With nearly 50,000 farming operations in the state, Mr. Etheridge’s long history in the agricultural community makes him well qualified to lead the NC FSA, and I believe he will be a tremendous asset to North Carolina farmers.
“I applaud the Biden-Harris Administration on their selection of two truly dedicated public servants, and I look forward to working with both of them on behalf of our rural communities and farmers in North Carolina.”
