Butterfield Announces 2019 Congressional Art Competition
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) today announced the 2019 Congressional Art Competition for North Carolina’s First Congressional District. The United States House of Representatives sponsors this competition annually to recognize and honor the work of talented young people from across the country.
“I am excited to continue the annual tradition of inviting students from across the First District to participate in the Congressional Art Competition,” said Congressman Butterfield. “We have many talented young people in our state and I take pride in showing off their work, which expresses the influences in their daily lives and community. I encourage all interested students to enter a piece into this year’s competition. I look forward to showcasing the winning piece in the United States Capitol for all to see.”
The winner of the First Congressional District’s Congressional Art Competition will have their artwork displayed in the United States Capitol among the winning pieces from Congressional districts across the country. The winner will also receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, DC to attend a reception. This year’s winner will also be eligible for a scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design or Tennessee Wesleyan College.
