WILSON — Dreary weather did not stop officials and residents from gathering on Tuesday morning to celebrate the start of construction to revitalize the U.S. 301 corridor.
Wilson Mayor Bruce Rose said U.S. 301 is going to be restored thanks to Congressman G.K. Butterfield, who helped the city get a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant.
U.S. Representative G.K. Butterfield walked the walk during the civil rights era, leading marches in Wilson, the segregated eastern North Carolina town in which he came of age.
