Butterfield to serve as next House Chief Deputy Whip
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNCT) - A Congressman from the East is set to become the next Chief Deputy Whip.
Representative G.K. Butterfield has been tapped for the senior level leadership role for next years Congress.
Butterfield, representing North Carolina's 1st Congressional District, will become the first Democrat from North Carolina to serve in this role.
Butterfield will work alongside the next Speaker of the House which is set to be Rep. Nancy Pelosi.
The Congressman released a statement reading in part, "We will promote an agenda to improve our economy, create jobs, and help low- and middle-income families. Undoubtedly, there will be new challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities ahead, and I am excited to help lead the Democratic caucus in this role."
