Capitol Tours

Arranged guided tours of the U.S. Capitol for constituents are conducted through the new Capitol Visitors Center (CVC). To arrange a guided Capitol tour through our office, follow these simple steps below to get started.

Overview

  • Available by reservation only.
  • The CVC is open to tours from 08:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Saturday, except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Inauguration Day.
  • Guide and free of charge.
  • Scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
  • We strongly suggest you submit all Capitol tour requests at least one (1) month in advance, and no more than four (4) months.
  • To visit the House Gallery, you are welcome to pick up Gallery passes in our office, 2305 Rayburn House Office Building prior to your tour.

1. Gather Information

  • Gather the following information:
    • Full name of organizer
    • Name of group
    • How many will be attending?
    • Three (3) dates to take your tour
    • Times of the day during those days to take your tour
    • Organizer phone number
    • Organizer e-mail
    • City
    • Zip Code

2. E-Mail

  • Gather the following information:
    • E-Mail the information to gkbtours@mail.house.gov
    • Subject: 'Capitol Tour Request'
    • In the body of the e-mail:
      • Party Name: [Smith Family]
      • Organizer Name: [John Smith]
      • Day Phone: (123) 456-7890

      • Three (3) tour dates requested: mm/dd/yyyy, (Date 1), (Date 2), (Date 3)

Traveling to the Capitol

The closest Metrorail stations to the U.S. Capitol are 'Capitol South' (Blue and Orange lines), and 'Union Station' (Red line). On-street parking is very limited near the U.S. Capitol, so use of public transportation is strongly encouraged. To help plan your trip using the metro, please visit WMATA
